Kwantu

So its definitely been way too long since I last posted on my dev page, in fact its been months since I even visited the site. I seriously need to set it as my homepage so that I will get around to uploading and posting on a far more regular basis!

Well anyways, what this post is meant to be about is my trip to Kwantu yesterday. To put it into context at the beginning of this university year I decided to sign-up for the Zoology society as they seem to be one of the very few societies that actually does anything of worth, not to mention allowing its members to spend some time off campus and get out of the Grahamstown bubble.

So as their first major event of the year we went on a day trip to the Kwantu elephant sanctuary where we were given a truly amazing show by the staff there, highlighting the true beauty and intelligence of the animals. It was quite an experience to feed an elephant, I don't know if any of you have ever been lucky enough to try, but putting your hand what feels like a mile into an elephants mouth is quite daunting, especially when you see the size of its teeth! Although its something truly intriguing, they are the most gentle animals I have even encountered (their tongues are also incredibly soft and needles to say gooey!) It was quite a way to start a Saturday morning.
After the elephant sanctuary we traveled across to their nature reserve, where they rehabilitate wild cats to be released into the wild and hopefully help repopulate some seriously endangered species. The one thing that struck me is the amazing similarity between these great cats and the domestic cats we all know, yet how wild they are... Something I am not quite sure how to put into words.

Well that is all from me, I have uploaded some of my photos from the trip so enjoy, and if you ever get the chance to visit these amazing places don't hesitate!

Ciao

I am currently a student studying at Rhodes University S.A... Although photography isn't my field of study, its something that truly intrigues me, there is something a photograph can capture that is way beyond a memory or feeling.... in every photo we can see a bit of ourselves no matter what it is!

nothing would be the same if you did not exist.
Every place you have ever been and everyone you have ever spoken to would be different without you.
